Expert Under-Eye Skincare Tips: Enhance Treatment Results

Why Is a Skincare Routine Important After an Under-Eye Treatment?

After any under-eye treatment, I recommend my patients follow an at-home skincare routine. This routine is essential to boost the results of the injection, particularly when it comes to hydrating the skin, addressing dark circles, and treating fine lines that can’t be fully managed with just hyaluronic acid (HA). Combining in-office treatments with at-home care is key to maximizing results and maintaining them for longer.

The Importance of Daily Care for the Eye Contour

Taking care of the under-eye area with a daily routine is crucial because the skin here is very thin—five times thinner than the rest of the face. This area is not only delicate but also constantly moving, which puts it under extra strain. Additionally, the skin around the eyes has very little collagen and elastin, which means it doesn’t stay hydrated for long. That’s why you need a formula specifically designed for this area, containing both anti-aging and hydrating properties to keep the skin smooth and protected.

What Should an Eye Contour Cream Offer?

When choosing an eye contour cream, it’s important to look for certain features that are adapted to the unique needs of the under-eye skin. First, the cream should activate blood circulation to brighten dark circles. Hydration is also key, and ideally, the product should include a form of cross-linked HA for long-lasting moisture. Finally, it should offer an anti-wrinkle effect to smooth fine lines, which are a common concern in this area.

Understanding the Causes of Dark Circles

Dark circles can have several different causes. In some cases, they are highly pigmented due to genetics, especially for those with skin types 3 or 4. These dark circles can be treated with a combination of eye contour creams and resurfacing treatments.

Other dark circles are caused by thin skin in the area, which allows red or blue pigmentation to show through. Here, the goal is to improve blood circulation around the eyes to reduce the appearance of this pigmentation. Finally, hollow dark circles, which give a sunken appearance, are best treated with HA injections. These types of dark circles require volume restoration, but it’s important to combine injections with a daily skincare routine to maintain and enhance the results.
