What precautions should you consider when using dermal filler injections?
Soft tissue filler injection is a medical procedure which involves an inherent risk of infection, like any procedure of this type. It must be carried out in a suitable environment and all the usual precautions must be taken. In addition, the medical practitioner must have good knowledge of facial anatomy4-15.
Prior to treatment, the practitioner:
· must take into account the fact that this filling product contains lidocaine.
· Should consider risk of interaction, it is recommended that TEOSYAL® fillers do not come into contact with quaternary Ammonium salts (such as benzalkonium chloride).
The patient should be advised:
· not to take high doses of Vitamin E, aspirin, anti-inflammatories or anti-coagulants during the week before the injection session.
· not to use any make-up during the 12 hours following injection.
· to avoid dental treatments, other aesthetic procedures of any type, extended sun exposure, UV rays, and extreme temperatures (intense cold, sauna, hammam, etc.), during the two weeks following the treatment.
Sportspeople must be made aware of the fact that this product contains an active component which may cause a positive reaction in a drug test.
